New Student Orientation Program (NSOP) is a mandatory event for entry into Air Force ROTC. It is an excellent opportunity to get to know your fellow cadets in an “at-ease” environment and will be separated into 2 sessions.  

Session 1: Fitness Screener

  • Bring Form 28
  • Dress: Athletic clothing

Session 2: Orientation Brief

  • Must pass fitness screener to attend
  • Bring all paperwork (see "What to Bring" tab)
  • Dress: Business casual

Items to Complete Before New Student Orientation

STEP 1: Create WINGS account

  1. Go to https://wings.holmcenter.com
  2. Click on “Apply for AFROTC” (if you are a scholarship cadet and have already created your account, simply log in)
  3. Follow the prompts and guides as requested
  4. Log into your account and complete the required steps. DO NOT LEAVE ANY OF THE QUESTIONS/PROMPTS BLANK
  5. Upload your documents as individual PDF files when prompted to upload your documents. Please ensure these documents reflect the correct information and date.
  6. You will have the ability to indicate what the form is-- if you do not see the form name select “other.”
  7. Upload your Selective Service Card (males 18 years+) *** If unsure of SS #, log on to https://www.sss.gov/verify/ , and verify. There will be a phone number to contact if unable to find you in the system.
  8. Review the application and submit.

STEP 2: Complete Form 28 (Qualified, non-expired, DODMERBs will be accepted in place of the AFROTC Form 28) 

  1. Review "Form 28 Example"
  2. Print "Blank Form 28"
  3. Visit personal physician or free Embry-Riddle physician (Must not be completed any earlier that 30 days prior to the term start date) Click here to review the Academic Calendar

STEP 3: Complete NSOP Forms

  1. Review "NSOP Forms Example" 
  2. Print "Blank NSOP Forms"
  3.  Complete and bring forms to NSOP Session 2

Campuses

Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University Daytona Beach Campus

The eastern campus, located in Daytona Beach, Florida, features a 185-acre campus next to Daytona Beach International Airport and Daytona International Speedway. The campus features state-of-the-art facilities and offers more than 40 undergraduate degrees and more than 30 graduate degrees. The student body consists of people from 50 states and more than 100 countries. In addition, nearly 30 percent of the student body participates in ROTC. Furthermore, many students participate in the athletic programs offered at Embry-Riddle. Lastly, more than 350 student organizations and clubs are offered at Embry-Riddle for students to participate, ranging from student government to skydiving.

Bethune-Cookman University

The Bethune-Cookman campus is located just minutes away from Embry-Riddle. The university offers more than 30 undergraduate degrees, ranging from nursing to computer engineering. Bethune-Cookman has a award-winning athletic department and has achieved national recognition. In addition, the Bethune-Cookman marching band has appeared in several national commercials and in the movie "Drumline." Furthermore, the National Science Foundation awarded a large grant to the university to further research for the University's Robotics and Embedded Systems Research Laboratory.

Daytona State College

Located across the street from Embry-Riddle, Daytona State College is a provider of higher education for Volusia and Flagler counties in Florida. The college offers multiple degrees ranging from engineering technology programs to architectural and building design technology. Furthermore, the facilities are all state-of-the-art and feature the latest in computer technology. Several professional facilities are located on the campus, ranging from the Public Broadcasting System to a Theater Center — home to some of the area's finest performing arts productions.

Stetson University

In 1883, Stetson University emerged from the DeLand Academy as a university on Central Florida's frontier. University of Central Florida, Daytona Beach

Located next to Daytona State College, the University of Central Florida, Daytona Beach services more than 1,000 students in more than 15 undergraduate programs. In addition, due to the close proximity of the other campuses, various partnerships have been established for students in various degree programs. UCF Daytona Beach has a strong nursing program, along with various legal and medical undergraduate degrees programs available at the campus.
