On-Campus Housing Requirement

Embry‑Riddle Aeronautical University - Daytona Beach Campus has an On-Campus Housing Requirement for our students. This policy requires new students — all incoming first-year and transfer students under the age of 21 before September 1 — to reside in ERAU-managed housing (henceforth referred to as “HRL”) for two full academic years (fall and spring semesters). Students who start at Embry-Riddle in the Spring semester of their first academic year will count that Spring semester as meeting year one of the two-year requirement.

Once students complete their second year in housing, they will transition to non-required student status. Please note: Non-required students are not guaranteed on-campus housing, and it will only be available if space permits. Our office is available to assist in finding suitable off campus housing options.

Students can be exempt from the On-Campus Housing Requirement if they meet one of the following exemption reasons:

  • Student lives at an address within a 50-mile driving distance of the Daytona Beach campus:
    • Student and guardian must have lived at the address for a full calendar year prior to starting classes at the university.
    • Documentation establishing permanent residency at the address is required.
  • Student is 21 years of age or older by September 1 of the required contract year:
    • No documentation required after admission to Embry-Riddle.

Non-Required Off-Campus Housing

Daytona Housing and Residence Life has partnered with Rent College Pads to assist Non-Required Students for housing with finding off-campus housing. Students are highly encouraged to ensure that they are not required to live on campus before they sign a lease. Signing an off-campus lease will not release a student from the on-campus housing requirement. Please note: Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University does not inspect or offer a guarantee for the condition or the quality of the rental units listed. Does not assume responsibility for the arrangement of rental contracts between individuals and landlords.
