Veterans’ Benefits
What are Veterans’ Benefits?
Veterans' benefits (VA Benefits) refer to the various programs, services, and financial assistance provided by the government to individuals who have served in the military. These benefits are designed to support veterans in different aspects of their lives, including education, healthcare, housing, employment, and more. The specific benefits available can vary based on factors such as the length of military service, discharge status, and service-connected disabilities.
How do I begin receiving VA Benefits at ERAU?
If you are a veteran or dependent receiving VA Benefits, here is how to begin the process of receiving your VA funding:
- Contact ERAU Veterans Student Services Department to provide them with your certificate of eligibility, which provides us with the type of educational benefits you are eligible for and the length of time you will have these benefits.
- Provide their department with an intent form each semester. This is informing the University that you intend to use your VA benefits.
What costs will the VA cover at ERAU?
The VA will only cover the following:
- Tuition
- Mandatory fees
- Health Insurance
- Graduation fee
How will other types of aid be impacted, if I am eligible for VA Chapter 33 - 100% Yellow Ribbon Program?
- For 100% Yellow Ribbon students, your Institutional Funded Scholarships (IFS) will be cancelled.
- You must pay any expenses that are not covered by the VA, which must be paid by the payment deadline, or by enrolling in a payment plan with Student Financial Services.
- The Yellow Ribbon Program will cover any unmet tuition charges for the spring semester, if VA benefits have been exhausted.
- Donor scholarships and/or external scholarships will be reviewed for eligibility, based on the donor’s scholarship requirements.
- Institutional Funded Scholarships (IFS) will be reinstated if your VA benefits are exhausted. Your IFS may be prorated if you have “limited” benefits available during a given semester.
