Our Mission
The Center supports faculty innovation, excellence, and professional growth by:
- promoting excellent teaching as a research-based practice;
- providing dynamic, tailored programming and services that reach faculty at each career stage;
- serving as a hub for information, exchange, and collaboration on current, data-driven insights into pedagogical approaches that support learning, and
- encouraging ongoing critical assessment through feedback and collaboration with colleagues to improve instructional effectiveness.
By supporting faculty in these ways, the Center contributes to the development of knowledge and skills needed for each student to succeed in a culturally diverse, global professional community.

Awards
Our Center is proud to be the recipient of the 2023 Innovation Award granted by the Professional and Organizational Development (POD) Network. The Innovation Award recognized the team’s project — titled “Small Teaching, Big Results” — which leveraged partnerships with department chairs and interdepartmental competition to encourage the implementation of small teaching practices.
In 2015 our center was recognized with the Jack A. Chambers Teaching and Learning Center Award, presented by the 26th International Conference on College Teaching and Learning. Our embedded model of faculty development locates an experienced faculty developer in each of our four colleges.
