The Makerspace is a dynamic, student-run lab dedicated to fostering creativity, innovation and hands-on learning in the fields of additive manufacturing, 3D scanning and 3D visualization. Open to all students, faculty and staff, the lab provides access to 3D printers, 3D scanners, composite fabrication tools and post-processing stations. By offering low-cost prototyping services and free technical consulting, the Makerspace empowers users to explore self-directed projects, overcome design challenges and gain real-world experience. Through regular workshops and mentorship opportunities, the lab cultivates a collaborative environment where knowledge is shared freely and ideas are brought to life.
The goals of this lab include:
- Providing students with hands-on experience in additive manufacturing and 3D visualization technologies.
- Supporting innovation and creativity through student-led projects, research collaborations and practical design challenges.
Equipment
- Fused Deposition Modeling (FDM) and Stereolithography (SLA) 3D printers
- High-resolution 3D scanners
- Plastic recycling station (shredding and respooling)
- Composites manufacturing tools (forged and layups)
- Post-processing equipment (sanding, painting, heated inserts and finishing tools)
Capacity
The Makerspace supports both individual and team-based projects with a flexible workspace that accommodates up to 10 users simultaneously. Students, faculty and staff are welcome to reserve time for extended prototyping or attend scheduled workshops.
