Weather Center

The Weather Center, in the College of Aviation Building on the Daytona Beach Campus, is primarily used as a location where students can access weather data and analysis applications for lab assignments and student research products.

The computers are loaded with the same weather analysis software as used by the National Weather Service forecast centers, a weather server cluster and satellite feed that receives 1TB of worldwide weather data daily, and a dual projection system for group discussions and briefings.

Associated potential research topics include human processing and exchange of complex information, hurricane monitoring and forecasting, numerical weather prediction, photogrammetric analyses of fire forensic evidence, and the integration of meteorological information with societal data using Geographic Information Systems (GIS).
