Naval Reserve Officers Training Corps
The Naval Reserve Officers Training Corps (NROTC) Unit administers the Naval Science Program at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University (ERAU). This program affords selected men and women the opportunity to receive instruction in Navy-specified courses which, in conjunction with the baccalaureate degree, will qualify them for a commission in the United States Navy or Marine Corps. All U.S. citizen students enrolled in the University are eligible to apply for the NROTC Program.
Mission
To develop midshipman mentally, morally and physically; to imbue the highest ideals of duty and loyalty; and to introduce the core values of Honor, Courage and Commitment. To produce naval officers who possess a basic professional background, who are motivated toward careers in the Naval Service, who are primed for future development in mind and character and who are prepared to assume the highest responsibilities of command, citizenship and government.
Special Notice to High School Students Competing for Navy or Marine ROTC Scholarships are ERAU
ERAU is a popular choice with high school students fortunate enough to earn a Navy or Marine scholarship. The Navy assigns these scholarships based on the preferences you provide on your scholarship application. However, only a limited number of scholarships go to each institution with a NROTC program. Consequently, the ERAU NROTC program is typically at capacity after the early scholarship selection boards are complete. Our recommendation for students competing for an NROTC scholarship at ERAU is to have your entire scholarship application complete prior to the beginning of your senior year in high school.
