Embry-Riddle Athletics to Host Annual Blue & Gold Gala

Daytona Beach, FL , April 13, 2012

The Embry-Riddle Department of Intercollegiate Athletics will be hosting the eighth annual Blue and Gold Gala on Friday, April 20, at 6:30 p.m. in the ICI Center on Embry-Riddle’s Daytona Beach campus.

The Blue and Gold Gala is the primary fundraiser of the Athletics Department, with the proceeds supporting the University’s 17 sports programs and enhancing the overall student-athlete experience. In addition to supporting student-athlete scholarship, the Athletics administration is hoping to raise funds for technology upgrades in such areas as academic enhancement, sports medicine, and sports information.

For the seventh consecutive year, Daytona Mitsubishi/Kia will be the presenting sponsor of the Gala. As part of their sponsorship, Richard Nisbett and the Daytona Mitsubishi/Kia team have donated a 2012 silver Kia Soul, which will be included as a live auction item.

The Gala is a community event that will feature fabulous silent and live auctions, delicious cuisine and musical entertainment. Individual tickets to attend the Gala are $100 and include dinner and complimentary beer, wine and Pepsi products. Individuals and businesses may support the event as a sponsor and/or by featuring a product, service or experience as an auction item.

“The Gala has become one of the University’s signature events,” said Embry-Riddle Assistant Athletics Director John Mark Adkison. “The successes we’ve enjoyed have made a tremendous impact on both the University and the Athletics program. We are truly appreciative of the great support we have received from the community in the past and we look forward to having another fun and festive Gala this month.”
