Embry-Riddle to Offer Airworthiness Course for Civil Aviation Administration of China

Daytona Beach, FL, February 6, 2012

On Feb. 21, Embry-Riddle begins the fourth course in its ongoing agreement to train Chinese aviation professionals. The course on Airworthiness Certification will be taught by experts from the College of Aviation and College of Engineering at the university’s Daytona Beach, Fla., campus.

The course continues Embry-Riddle’s training relationship with delegates from the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC). The Chinese Civil Aviation Development Five-Year Plan acted as the catalyst for the training programs between CAAC and the university.

The Chinese plan depicts the need to promote the development of civil aviation, enhance the safety level of aviation, intensify the construction of civil airports, augment the air traffic control system and implement strategy to invigorate the industry through science and education. Embry-Riddle, as the global leader in aviation and aerospace education, was selected to help the world’s fastest-growing aviation industry realize its strategic goals of sustainable development and common prosperity.

The training courses create collaborative opportunities for cooperation and innovation between Embry-Riddle faculty and managers and directors from the CAAC. To date Embry-Riddle has offered seven successful training courses, for up to 200 CAAC delegates, in disciplines such as Strategic Management, Aviation Statistics Management, Route and Network Management, and Aviation Safety Management.

The courses include instruction by experts from the College of Business and College of Aviation, as well as site visits to local industries such as Greater Orlando Aviation Authority, Daytona Beach International Airport, Jacksonville Airport Authority, Larsen Motorsports, Orlando FAA Tower and TRACON, and Florida NextGen Test Bed.

The training courses are offered through the Office of Professional Programs on the Daytona Beach Campus; this office uniquely combines expertise and technology to address the most pressing challenges facing today’s aviation industry. In addition to offering customized courses, the office also offers ongoing short courses in aviation safety, occupational safety and health, and aircraft accident investigation.
