Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University has appointed Dr. Robin Roberts as interim director of the newly reorganized Office of Diversity and Inclusion at its Daytona Beach, Fla., campus. The mission of the office has been broadened from focusing on the retention of female and minority students to fostering a diverse, inclusive campus with programs and services that challenge students’ ability to adapt to diverse, inclusive environments, engage in creative, productive and meaningful activities, and understand how their behaviors impact others.

“We are very excited about the new direction the Office of Diversity and Inclusion is moving in, and Dr. Roberts’ expansion of the vision and programming of the office,” said Dr. Nancee Bailey, Vice President of Student Affairs. “As we collaborate and share the newly created vision with our stakeholders, I’m certain the resulting programs and activities will become integral to our students’ success and they will be able to easily adapt to diverse and inclusive environments both here and in their careers.”

Roberts joined Embry-Riddle from Delaware State University, where she served as director of student leadership and activities, director of career services, and adjunct professor of business. She earned a bachelor’s degree in information systems, a master’s in organizational management, and a doctor of management degree in organizational leadership at the University of Phoenix.

The Office of Diversity and Inclusion will host open houses this fall to highlight its new programs, services and activities.

At Embry-Riddle’s campus in Prescott, Ariz., diversity programs are organized by the Women’s and Diversity Center, led by Dr. Melanie Wilson. The center supports women, people of color, LGBTQ persons, and other underrepresented groups among students, staff and faculty and works to help increase the number of women students on campus.
