Keith Boswell - Director
Keith has his M.A. in Teaching English as a Second Language from California State University in Sacramento, CA. He has been director of ERLI since April of 2013. He moved here after filling a director position at Virginia Commonwealth University and launching the language program at Longwood University. Previous to that, he worked in Cairo, Egypt for 11 years managing human resources development projects. He has two sons. One is 17 and the other is 21. In his free time, he likes to swim, ride his bike, exercise and spend time with his family and friends. He grew up in Peru and loves everything Latino.
Courtney Spradling – Administrative Assistant and Student Advisor
Courtney has a B.A. in Communication Studies from Eastern Kentucky University (EKU). She is the Embry-Riddle Language Institute (ERLI) Administrative Assistant, Student Advisor and DSO. Prior to ERAU, Courtney worked for several student support services and advising programs at her alma mater. In her spare time, she enjoys movies and spending time with her family.
Douglas Adams – Instructor
Douglas has a master’s degree in applied linguistics with a specialization in TESL from the University of Florida and has taught English as a second language at the university level both in the U.S. and overseas for more than 20 years, and is currently on faculty at the Embry-Riddle Language Institute at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in Daytona Beach, Florida. In addition to teaching at the institute, he has also served as an academic advisor for first year students at the university and taught Embry-Riddle's developmental English classes for international students for more than ten years.
Aliona Buresh - Instructor
Aliona Buresh has her M.A. in Educational Leadership/TESOL from University of Central Florida. She started her teaching career as a University ESOL Professor at the Institute of Parliamentarism and Enterprise in Minsk, Belarus. She worked from 2012-2014 at Daytona State College teaching ESOL to students from various educational and cultural backgrounds. She started to work at ERLI as a TESOL Instructor in 2013. She is fluent in English, Russian, and Italian. She enjoys travelling, experiencing new foods and cultures, and meeting people from different countries.
Jennifer Roberts – Instructor
Jennifer holds a Master’s degree in Applied Linguistics and ESL from Georgia State University. Her experience derives from teaching English in a variety of settings to a diverse collection of students, including universities in both the U.S.A. and abroad. Jennifer has worked in China as a visiting instructor at Tsinghua University in Beijing and as a Global TESOL instructor at Guangzhou University. Jennifer has also worked to support curricula and syllabi revision with the University of Baghdad through the University Linkage Program coordinated by the U.S. Department of State. Before coming to Embry-Riddle, she served in Indonesia as an English Language Fellow (ELF) on a U.S. Embassy-based project teaching English at the University of Mataram and providing nationwide teacher-training to Indonesian educators. In her spare time, Jennifer enjoys traveling, reading, and cycling.
Evan Tokarz - Instructor
Evan has his Master's degree in Applied Linguistics from Georgia State University. He has taught ESL at multiple universities including Georgia Institute of Technology, Georgia State University, Mercer University, and Tsinghua University in Beijing, China. He was a U.S. Department of State/Georgetown University English Language Fellow at Yulin Normal University in Yulin, Guangxi, China. In this program he traveled across China to give lectures and teacher trainings as organized by the U.S. Embassy in Beijing, China and the U.S. Consulate in Guangzhou, China. He enjoys surfing, playing video games, and kayaking.
Julie Richard - Adjunct Instructor
Julie Richard has her M.A. in International Development Studies from Saint Mary’s University in Halifax, Canada. She began her career in education in South Korea where she spent 2 years teaching English to elementary and high school students. Realizing that teaching (and specifically ESL) was her passion, Julie returned to school and graduated magna cum laude with her Bachelors of Education from the University of Ottawa in 2012. Prior to teaching at Embry-Riddle, Julie taught ESL for 2 years at Hudson County Community College in Jersey City, New Jersey. Julie is an avid traveler who has visited over 17 countries. In her free time she enjoys running, eating, and spending time at the beach with her husband and young children.
Mary Synk- Adjunct Instructor
Mary is an Adjunct ESOL Instructor at the Daytona Beach Campus. She earned a B.S. degree in English Education from Miami University, and Master’s degrees in both Library Science (University of Kentucky) and Computer Science (Cleveland State University). In 2008, after a successful career in technology and financial services, she began a second career in a field she is passionate about -- adult literacy. She taught Reading and ESOL in the Adult Education Dept. at Daytona State College, earned her Advanced TESOL Certificate from Shenandoah University, and has been teaching ESOL at ERLI since 2013. Mary is committed to international volunteer work with disabled, disadvantaged and abandoned children, and has completed service programs in Peru, India, and Romania. Learning English is often the path out of poverty for these children, so her work often includes teaching English. She returns to Romania annually to teach at a summer English Camp organized by Romania Scouts of Art. She is an avid reader of historical fiction, practices yoga, and runs in local 5K events.
