Health Insurance Requirements

Do I need Health Insurance?

Health Care in the United States can be expensive, especially if it includes a stay in a hospital. All Embry-Riddle students are required to have medical insurance. To ensure that all students have an appropriate level of insurance, a student insurance policy is included in your tuition and fees.

What if I already have Health Insurance?

You can have your own health insurance if it meets the requirements that all International students must have as a condition of enrollment.  This must be a United States-based insurance with major medical coverage and must meet residency requirements as established by the U.S. State Department. If you have insurance and wish to be exempt from the University group policy, please provide the following proof of alternative insurance:

  • Provide the toll-free telephone number in the United States of your insurance company.
  • The policy must have coverage for sicknesses, injuries, medical evacuation and repatriation of remains.
  • The amount of health insurance coverage requirements is a minimum of $100,000 up to $200,000.
  • Please provide the website address information for your insurance company.
