Residential Flight Camps
Contact Information
Embry-Riddle's summer programs are Residential Programs at the Daytona Beach Campus that introduce the technology of today to the aviators and astronauts of tomorrow. Students live in on-campus dormitories — under the supervision of approved counselors — and share their initial experience of university living with other young people their age. Applications are accepted on January 9, 2013 and there is an advanced registration discount if a completed application packet is received by April 11, 2013.
Generations
For those of us who remember how great it was to be young and love aviation, here is a chance to do it all again. Bring your son, grandson, daughter or granddaughter and let them experience first-hand — with you — the joys of aviation. Together, the two of you will share the experience of exploring Flight Training, Air Traffic Control, Meteorology, Aircraft Maintenance, Engineering and Space Technology. This is an opportunity to grow together with the next generation of aviation greats!
Tuition includes flight fees, simulator sessions, classroom instruction, on-campus meals, materials and field trips.

SunFlight Solo
The goal of SunFlight Solo is for all qualified students to solo under the FAA Part 61 Flight Training Curriculum by the end of the program. Areas of study include Air Traffic Control, Meteorology, Navigation and Federal Aviation Regulations. The fundamentals learned in this program give students an advantage when they enroll into the SunFlight Solo Private Pilot Program. (A qualified student is determined by regulations set by the FAA and the discretion of the student's flight instructor.)
Students must be 16 years old prior to the end of the camp session. All participants must obtain a FAA Medical/Student Pilot Certificate prior to submitting an application. (Students must possess a FAA Medical/Student Pilot Certificate, not a FAA Medical Certificate. Please contact our office prior to obtaining the Medical/Student Pilot Certificate if the student will be 15 years of age when submitting an application.)
Tuition includes supervised housing, on-campus meals, ground lab instruction, flight materials, books and field trips, and a deposit towards the flight fees. Total flight costs vary and are dependent upon the student's abilities. Flight fees will be due at the completion of each flight lesson.
- High School Students (Ages 16 - 18)

SunFlight Private Pilot
The SunFlight Private Pilot Program is a structured, seven-week program that allows aspiring pilots the opportunity to earn their Private Pilot Certificate in the same environment as our University flight students. Regardless of the student's flight experience, this program is designed to provide the knowledge necessary to successfully pass the FAA Private Pilot knowledge, flight and oral exams; however, if the student has previously attended our SunFlight Solo program, they typically finish this course in a more efficient manner.
Tuition includes supervised housing, on-campus meals, course fees, ground lab instruction, flight materials, books, field trip and a deposit towards the flight fees. Total flight costs vary, and are dependent upon the student's abilities. Flight fees will be due at the completion of each flight lesson. Students must be 17 years old by August 1 to enroll in the Private Pilot program. Additionally, all participants must obtain a FAA Medical/Student Pilot Certificate (not a FAA Medical) prior to submitting an application.

Sun Flight Custom Flight Training
The SunFlight Custom Flight Training Program is designed for qualified private pilots to continue their flight training. You could gain your multi-engine land rating, instrument rating or take upset training. If these have been attained and you want to continue to the next rating, we can customize that training for you as well. Students learn the same program as our University flight students. Students must possess a Private Pilot License and a FAA Medical prior to the start of this course in order to enroll in one of the customized training programs.
Tuition is based on which rating you are seeking and includes supervised housing, on-campus meals, course fees, ground lab, flight materials, books, field trips and a deposit toward the flight fees.
