McNair Scholars are eligible for a number of scholarships and fellowships outside of our program. Because of their research experience and the resources provided to them, McNair Scholars are prime contenders for a number of scholarship and fellowship opportunities.
The National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellowship Program provides funding for STEM-focused graduate students. Deadline for submission is in the fall semester each year.
The Ford Foundation Fellowship Programs seek to increase the diversity of the nation’s colleges and university faculties by increasing their ethnic and racial diversity by funding graduate students.
The National Science Foundation's Research Experiences for Undergraduates allows select students to complete research projects at host universities in a variety of subject areas. These experiences are typically held over the summer.
The National Defense Science & Engineering Graduate Fellowship (NDSEG) is awarded by the Department of Defense (DoD) to individuals who have demonstrated the ability and special aptitude for advanced training in science and engineering. Fellowships are awarded to applicants who will pursue a doctoral degree in, or closely related to areas of DoD interest within a variety of disciplines.
The U.S. Department of State’s Pathways Internship Program includes both the Internship Temporary Program (ITEP) and the Internship Experience Program (IEP). Both programs are targeted toward U.S. citizens and provide students with opportunities to explore Federal careers while being paid for the work performed.
