During their freshman year, Honors students electing this option are housed together in a University residence hall.

Honors Seminars

Honors Program students are ensured enrollment in three successive Honors seminar courses, each having a maximum enrollment of 20 Honors students.

Additional Benefits

Program Activities

The Honors Program also focuses on building community among its members by providing social activities such as a picnic on the beach to kick off the year, a Thanksgiving dinner for students remaining on campus, and the spring semester EcoAdventures, transporting students to a Florida location known for its natural beauty and environmental interest. The Honors Students Association (HSA) also emphasizes community-building, and sponsors a number of social events throughout the year.

Honors Student Association (HSA)

The Honors Students Association strengthens the Honors students' sense of community and organization through its commitment to social activities and service. The student officers also serve to communicate student ideas, concerns, and suggestions to the Honors director. All students in the Honors Program are members of the HSA.

Honors Program Library

The Honors Program is developing a collection of books available only to students in Honors. The "must read, must share" books have all been recommended by Honors Program students and involved faculty. This collection, begun in 2004, will be added to annually.
