College of Engineering

College of Engineering programs are recognized for their rigor, innovation and balance between theory and practice. As the largest educator of aerospace engineers in the nation, the college plays a vital role in replenishing the dwindling aerospace workforce, and maintaining our nation’s preeminence in aviation and aerospace. Our faculty and students are engaged in inter-disciplinary research focused on finding solutions to problems that matter and developing technologies which serve the needs of the aerospace and aviation industry. We give our graduates the tools for continued intellectual development and the practice of life-long learning.

Departments

The College of Engineering is consistently recognized for its outstanding research and teaching in all its engineering disciplines, especially aerospace engineering. Our faculty seeks to develop our students' ability to think critically and analytically. Our college students are expected to master the skills which enable them to communicate clearly and to interact with other professionals. The growth of our programs, the diversity of our faculty and our bright, enthusiastic students make our department an exciting place to be.

Accreditation

All engineering degree programs on the Daytona Beach campus are accredited by ABET (the Engineering Accreditation Commission of the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology). ABET, Inc. (formerly the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology) is the recognized accrediting agency for college and university programs in applied science, computing, engineering and technology. ABET accreditation is assurance that a college or university program meets the quality standards established by the profession for which it prepares its students. For example, an accredited engineering program must meet the quality standards set by the engineering profession. ABET currently accredits some 2,900 programs at more than 600 colleges and universities nationwide.
