Ignite Initiative

 IGNITE is the Quality Enhancement Plan portion of Embry Riddle’s SACS reaccreditation process.

Goal Two of the University's strategic plan states that the institution desires “increased research and scholarly productivity to enhance student learning and the University’s reputation as a leading source for aviation/aerospace knowledge.”

The purposes of IGNITE:

  • create a research-supportive culture in the undergraduate community
  • provide undergraduates with a learning experience rooted in the process of discovery through research and inquiry
  • prepare graduate students to do scholarly work and to participate at a more advanced level of learning

 Faculty development will be an integral part of IGNITE. 

The second Ignite Operational Strategy creates the Faculty Development Program that will encourage:

  • A culture of inquiry – content within a context of questions
  • A culture of engagement – active learner participation in the teaching and learning process
  • A culture of collaboration – co-constructed projects between students and faculty” 

 On the Daytona Beach campus, initiatives that address IGNITE faculty development will include:

  • short courses for each of the three culture changes
  • support to faculty who are teaching research skills
  • mentoring to faculty who facilitate student research
  • support of the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning research
