Manu Sharma
Manu Sharma is a senior in Aerospace Engineering, and a member of the Honors Program. Manu has worked with the Electrical Engineering faculty in developing the S-Band Array for Bistatic Electromagnetic Ranging (Saber), where he designed and fabricated the mechanical systems of the prototype.
Eager to see space, he founded the Infinity project, which was launched in January 2010 to photograph space beyond 100,000 feet for under a $200 budget. He and his team became the youngest and first student team to photograph the planet Venus and the stars from Scorpion constellation in daylight. Later, he founded Nuovo Wind, a wind turbine startup company, which became one of the world’s top 110 startups to be selected for $40,000 equity free grant program of Start-Up Chile. He is a Kairos Global 2011 fellow.
Manu is also the organizer and licensee of TEDx Embry-Riddle, the first TED event in the history of ERAU. He enjoys research and continues to work with Dr. William Barott (genetic algorithms and bistatic radar), Dr. Brian Butka (wind turbines), and Dr. Drakunov (wing morphing). He finds pleasure in finding things out in science, and is deeply driven by working on new concepts and working on finding solutions to the problems that are worth solving. He intends to pursue research and go to graduate school.
