Faculty Spotlight
Dr. Bert Zarb
At Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, educators take pride in helping students reach tomorrow’s goals. Dr. Bert Zarb is certainly no exception.
Originally from Malta, Dr. Zarb began his service to the institution in 1998 after a 12 year career as a CPA. He was a visiting instructor and liked the program at the University.
“It was like a bug that bit me,” he said.
Dr. Zarb earned his MBA from the University of Central Florida and was encouraged by Dean Petree to pursue his doctorate degree.
“I like to learn and encourage students to never stop learning,” said Dr. Zarb. He is currently an active member of the local chapter of CPAs in Volusia County. He was president of the chapter in 2003-2004. He also participates in several academic conferences and research teams.
“Students should see the value in networking,” he urges. “It gives you great experience to read what others have written.”
Dr. Zarb has also published several academic papers including one for the International Journal of Business, Accounting, and Finance. His endeavors in research are quite impressive.
For this academic year, Dr. Zarb is teaching three courses in the College of Business and is active in the Student Advisory Board.
“I really enjoy teaching students. If you want to learn something better yourself, teach it.
“I encourage all of my students to use the faculty members as a source for their endeavors. It is a rewarding experience for me to see students succeed.”
