Embry-Riddle's MBA Program Creates Managers for Today's Transportation Industry

Business Meeting

Strong Business Foundation

This degree is intended to provide the person who already holds an undergraduate degree (in a technical area like engineering, for example) with the tools necessary to become a credible professional manager in aviation, aerospace, or related industries.

The special intricacies of the air transport system are woven into a strong, traditional business foundation and are examined in greater detail through a wide variety of specialized electives. Courses are structured to provide a world-class business and management education in an aviation/aerospace context.

Our curriculum sets the standard in education and experience, giving our students the background and knowledge needed to focus on real-world problems and opportunities found in aviation, aerospace, transportation, and various other related industries and organizations.

Versatility and analytical resourcefulness are two of the key aims of the Embry-Riddle MBA. For students wishing to study a wide range of aviation subject matter, the MBA program taught on the Daytona Beach campus allows the most flexibility in elective choices and specializations. Options available on the residential campus include specializations in

  • Airport Management
  • Airline Management
  • Aviation Human Resources
  • Aviation System Management
  • Finance

Degree candidates must complete a minimum of 39 hours of coursework, of which 27 hours make up the core curriculum. The remaining 12 hours can be devoted entirely to electives (for the nonthesis option), or six hours may be devoted to a thesis (thesis option), and the remaining six hours completed as elective courses. Prerequisites must be satisfied before enrollment in a course is permitted.

For those students unable to attend the residential campus, the College of Business offers the MBA with specialization in Aviation Management. The MBA Online is offered in a technology-mediated, online format for those who, due to work and life issues, are unable to attend the Daytona Beach Campus. For more information on this option, please go to the MBA Online.

Strong Industry Ties

The Industry Advisory Board for the College of Business is made up of executives in aerospace industry leaders including Boeing, Continental Airlines, Unisys, and Airbus North America; along with government bodies including NASA and the International Civil Aviation Organization. Board members visit the campus and share their experience and advice with faculty and students.
