The Academic Advancement Center is part of the College of Arts and Sciences academic enhancement plan. The A2 Center provides free tutoring and supplemental instruction (SI) to all students in a convenient location on the Daytona Beach Campus. The Center specializes in general education tutoring, specifically for students needing assistance in math, physics and writing (composition).

The Center also provides a Tutoring Online Program (TOP). The online program offers assistance to any student with an Internet connection, even if that location is off campus. The TOP specializes in assistance with 100 and 200 level mathematics and physics courses. The writing component allows for students to submit papers online. Papers are then evaluated by a tutor, and guidance is provided during a personal session scheduled by the tutor or student. Students may access TOP through ERNIE and student services (tutoring) or by going directly through Ask Online

TOP hours are listed on the welcome page of Ask Online. Please visit us there and try the convenience of online tutoring.

Student Studying in Tutoring Lab

The Writing Center — directed by Dr. Clare Little and located in Modular Building 21, Room 105 — is a free tutoring service center for students who want to improve their writing, with the help of trained student tutors. The tutors neither write nor edit student papers. Instead, they work one-on-one with students, explaining strengths and weaknesses, and offering advice about changes and corrections. Students should be sure to allow sufficient time between a tutoring session and an assignment's due date, in order to revise and edit their papers as needed.

Appointments, though not required, are encouraged. To make an appointment, call 386-226-6638.

Mathematics Tutoring Lab

Mathematics

The Mathematics Lab is directed by Instructor Heather Lippert. The following tutor labs are a component of unified tutoring's efforts to improve retention at all levels, and to provide students the resources necessary to succeed in their study of mathematics. Assistance is provided by a select group of undergraduate and graduate students. The use of the labs is encouraged and is free of charge to all Embry-Riddle students.

The Mathematics tutoring lab is located in Modular Building 21, Room 107. The lab's primary mission is to help students enrolled in 100-200 level math courses.

Note: We also offer Supplemental Instruction (SI) for specific first year courses (MA111, MA112, MA 140/142/145, MA241 and MA 242). These sessions are held in A (Modular 21) 109 from 6:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m., two nights a week.

Students Studying Together

Physical Sciences

The Physics/Chemistry Tutor Lab — directed by Dr. Charles Lee and located in Modular Building 21 Room 108 — offers free tutoring in physics and chemistry to any Embry-Riddle student. No appointment is necessary.

Note: We also offer Supplemental Instruction (SI) for specific first year courses. These sessions are held in Modular Building 21 Room 109, and hours vary by semester.
