Tutoring

The College of Arts & Sciences strives to meet the academic needs of its
students by offering tutoring services in a variety of courses. Our tutoring
services offer assistance to students who wish to enhance their academic performance
in classes offered by the college. We aim to promote independent and active
learning among students and to have a positive effect on improving their academic
achievement.
Humanities and Social Sciences
The Writing Center directed by Dr. Libbie Searcy and located in A 106 is a free tutoring service center for students who want to improve their writing with the help of trained student tutors. The tutors neither write nor simply edit students' papers for them; rather, they work one-on-one with students, explaining strengths and weaknesses and offering advice about changes and corrections. Students should be sure to allow sufficient time between a tutoring session and an assignment's due date in order to revise and edit their papers as needed.
- Open Monday – Friday, 11 am - 5 pm
- To make an appointment, which is not required but is encouraged, call 386-226-6638.
Mathematics
Mathematics tutoring is directed by Professor Jerry Lombardo. The following tutor labs are a component of the math department’s efforts to improve retention at all levels and to provide students the resources necessary to succeed in their study of mathematics. Assistance is provided by a select group of faculty, undergraduate and graduate students. The use of the labs is encouraged and is free of charge to all Embry-Riddle students.
The Mathematics Assistance To Reach Individual eXcellence laboratories (MATRIX) tutoring is located in Lehman Building 126A. The lab's primary mission is to help students enrolled in 100-200 level math courses.
