Student Employment
The mathematics department hires more than 40 undergraduate and graduate students during the fall and spring semesters. We encourage all students with a strong background and interest in mathematics to apply for one of the many positions available.

Job Descriptions
Tutor
- Skill Required: Dependability, positive attitude, math mastery, good communication skills, and on time performance
- Tasks: Assist students in mathematics courses with concepts and procedures, work specified hours in the designated mathematics lab, tutor for specific courses and content, and work mostly one on one
- Hours Per Week: Up to 20h a week
Supplemental Instruction leaders (SI)
- Skill Required: Dependability, be able to communicate with groups of students in class setting, positive attitude, and math mastery
- Tasks: Assist students in mathematics courses with concepts and procedures, attend classes related to supplemental instruction, become familiar with students and concepts related to SI duties, become familiar with faculty teaching courses related to SI duties, and attend/lead scheduled SI sessions
- Hours Per Week: 6 to 9 hours a weeks plus class visits and prep time; maximum 20h a week
Grader
- Skill Required: Demonstrated proficiency in subject area of mathematics, dependability, initative and strong work ethic
- Tasks: Working relationship with a mathematics professor and grading papers
- Hours Per Week: up to 20 a week
Office Assistant
- Skill Required: Good communication skills, good computer skills, good organization, initative and strong work ethic
- Tasks: Answer the phone, take messages, help faculty, take care of the stationnary, take care of events notices, and take care of duplication orders
- Hours Per Week: up to 20 a week
