Mathematics Seminar Series

On March 5, 2009 (Lehman Building 126B) Dr. Bhimsen Shivamoggi from University of Central Florida Department of Mathematics will present a talk "Hall Magnetic Reconnection: encounters with Space Weather Physics." In this talk Dr. Shivamoggi will discuss theoretical explorations of prime plasma phenomena underlying some aspects of space weather such magnetospheirc substorms and solar flares. He will give a brief overview of his recent theoretical research in these areas which has provided solutions to some prime unsolved issued in Hall magnetic reconnection as well as resolved some controversies on this problem.
