Degree Requirements

Human Factors Spring Awards College Arts & Sciences Embry-Riddle Daytona Beach

Human Factors students receive academic awards at the
spring ceremony.

The Bachelor of Science in Human Factors Psychology can be earned in eight semesters assuming appropriate background and full-time enrollment. Successful completion of a minimum of 123 credit hours is required. These include a variety of general education courses, our core degree requirements, 15 credits of specified electives, and 15 hours of open electives. A general list is provided below.

Minors

Most minors can be accommodated within the 15 hours of open electives required in the program. Our department supports minors in Human Factors and Psychology for non-human factors majors and Aerospace Physiology for all students. The Human Factors and Psychology minors are included in the degree if you are a Human Factors major (i.e., you don’t include these as separate minors within the degree).

Students are encouraged to choose a minor field of study.

  • Aerospace Life Sciences
  • Computer Science
  • Flight Test and Simulation
  • Mathematics
  • Air Traffic Control
  • Aviation Safety
Please download the catalog to view minors that complement Human Factors.

Practicum

Students will be encouraged to have an applied practicum experience. This requirement may be fulfilled in several ways, including co-ops, internships, or working with an on-campus research team. Practicums provide opportunities to gain practical experience in real-world settings. A practicum experience is highly regarded by employers, and increases the student’s employment potential after graduation. Typically, students will engage in practical experience activities toward the end of the degree program so they can take maximum advantage of their undergraduate experience. If students pursue internships, they can find a wealth of support and information from our career services office.
