STUDENT RESEARCH

The purpose of the conference is to provide undergraduate and graduate students the opportunity to present their research work in Human Factors and Applied Psychology in a collegial environment and to network with Florida students and faculty who have similar research interests. Topics of interest may include Cognitive Psychology, Experimental Psychology, Human Factors, Industrial/Organizational Psychology, Physiological Psychology and other related topics.

FORMAT

Papers will be divided between presentation and poster sessions. Presentations must be given by a student. The first author of each paper must be a student. All students and faculty are welcome to attend the conference, even if they do not submit a paper.

NEW 2010 DESIGN/RE-DESIGN COMPETITION

If you find yourself frustrated or thinking, “How did that happen?” you may have discovered a design that could use some adjusting. The design contest invites your ideas for new and improved design solutions. Submissions will be judged on criteria such as creativity, inventiveness, benefits of your design, and comprehensiveness.

DETAILS

Consider changes that benefit students, children, workers, athletes, caregivers, vacationers, good-time seekers, and better-life seekers. Consider changes that improve efficiency, well-being, safety, and enjoyment. A design can make a big or small change; it can impact few or many. ALL ideas are welcome!

REQUIREMENTS FOR THE CONTEST

A one page paper describing the design you are changing and why you are changing it, along with a description, and a picture of your design is required to enter the competition.

SUBMISSION

All submissions for the Design Competition are due April 1, 2010. Submission can be e-mailed to HFAP@erau.edu with a subject heading of Design Competition Submission.

AWARDS

Monetary awards are planned for the following catefories:

  1. Best undergraduate student paper
  2. Best graduate student paper
  3. Best overall paper
  4. Best design/re-design competition idea

SUBMISSION

300-500 word abstract is due February 17, 2010 (for presentations and posters) Submit your abstract via e-mail to: HFAP@erau.edu

Design/Re-Design Competition Submissions are due April 1, 2010 Please submit your entry to: HFAP@erau.edu

PRESENTATION FORMAT (FOR PRESENTATIONS & POSTERS)

Lecture presentations will be 12 minutes long with 3 minutes for questions. All presentations should be formatted to Microsoft PowerPoint 2007. Please bring your presentations on a jump/flash drive.

Posters should be 3 feet by 4 feet (36 inches x 48 inches)

Student Registration fee: $5.00
Faculty Registration fee: $25.00
Register payments will be accepted at the conference.
