Research & Labs
Research is a primary focus of the College of Aviation. Our faculty perform research in all fields related to aviation. For example, our faculty support and participate in activities related to the future of the national aerospace system. Embry-Riddle COA faculty members are engaged with FAA JPDO working groups planning the transition and paradigm change that will result in the modernization of the nation's airspace (NextGen).
Our students — at the undergraduate, graduate, and Ph.D. levels — are an important component in the research process. In addition to specific undergraduate research projects — performed in the classroom or under the supervision of a faculty mentor as a special topic — graduate and Ph.D. students are frequently employed by faculty to assist in their research efforts for a variety of tasks, including experimental design, taking measurements, testing and even reporting.
External research funding for the College of Aviation is increasing at an exponential rate, as are the opportunities for research. With state-of-the-art research equipment that includes state-of-the-art simulation capability, airspace modeling, ample laboratory space and some of the leading aviation minds from industry and academia, the College of Aviation provides an excellent environment for research and innovation.
