Commitment to Excellence

Embry-Riddle moved its flight school to Daytona Beach, Florida in 1965. Since then, the University has continued to grow and improve. One of the key components to our success has been our belief that in order for our graduates to excel in the marketplace, they have to be trained with the latest teaching techniques- delivered by the best and brightest educators in the industry, using only the most advanced training platforms available. In keeping with that philosophy, Embry-Riddle has invested millions of dollars over the years in maintaining a fleet of modern training airplanes, upgrading to the most advanced flight training devices available and hiring only the best in the field of aviation education. We have also invested in our future- and that of our students- by providing the facilities and infrastructure which allow us to deliver our training programs as effectively as possible.

Advanced Flight Simulation Center (SIM Center or AFSC Center)

This state-of-the-art facility represents Embry-Riddle’s commitment to using simulation as an integral component of our flight training curriculum. Currently this building houses 14 Level 6 Flight Training Devices (FTD) and 1 Level D Full Flight Simulator (FFS).

Aircraft Performance Lab (TAAP)

COA 256 - Map #6 - In Aerodynamics and Aircraft Performance classes, students learn the math and physics of concepts and principles of aerodynamics, and how math and physics are utilized to create performance tables, charts, and graphs for large jet transport airplanes.

College of Aviation (COA)

Map #6 - The College of Aviation (COA) building was erected in 2002 and provides a modern classroom environment for our students to learn in. This building provides computer equipped classrooms with wireless network access, Air Traffic Control and meteorology labs, flight tutor labs, the countries largest FAA written test center, and numerous other resources at our student’s disposal. Our latest facility improvement is slated for completion in late 2011 and will reaffirm Embry-Riddle’s place as the preeminent aviation training institution in the nation.

Computer-Based Training Lab (CBT Lab)

COA - Map #6 - Thirty-nine computer stations, connected to network and printer; Microsoft Flight Simulator 2004; Leim practice exam and tutorial program for FAA exams; and VFR and IFR Air Traffic Control communications practice program.

Flight Technique and Electronic Navigation Lab

COA 257 - Map #6 - Students learn the complete operation of large jet transport airplanes, their systems and procedures. They learn to program and operate electronic, automated flight decks, and to fly large jet airplanes with great precision. Students practice working effectively as two-pilot crews.

Hagedorn Aviation Complex (AC)

Map Nbr: 8 - College of Aviation’s Hagedorn Complex consists of six ultra-modern facilities covering 97,000 square feet. The site is located adjacent to the flight line and the current College of Aviation Building. The complex main buildings include the Flight Operations Center, Emil Buehler Aviation Maintenance and Sciences building and The Flight Maintenance Hangar.

Tutor Lab

COA - Map #6 - Tutor lab contains Personal Computer-operated Aviation Training Devices that are convertible from single engine to twin engine, and are capable of simulating flight for training in basic attitude instrument flying (BAI), radio navigation, and all instrument flight procedures, holding patterns, instrument approaches, missed approach procedures, etc.
