Greetings from the Chairman of the Flight Department

Welcome to the finest flight training program in collegiate aviation. From our flight dispatchers to our experienced and highly trained flight instructors, every member of this department is committed to providing the safest, most professional and best valued college flight training available.

Producing the Best Aviation Professionals

Our commitment to producing high-quality leaders and pilots is second to none and the industry recognizes our program as one of the finest in the nation. We do not simply teach flying. Our mission is to develop extremely motivated students into the finest aviation professionals on the planet. Our flight program, combined with our Aeronautical Science curriculum, has been meticulously designed to provide the knowledge and skills required to excel in the aviation industry. As a result, our graduates are in high demand by airlines, corporate aviation and the military.

High Standards & Commitment to Safety

The information included in this website will tell you about the effort we expend to ensure the safety of our students and instructors. We fly only the best equipment, maintained and flown to exacting standards. The University has a full-time flight safety officer who works with my staff and students on a daily basis. We have also made the commitment to equip every airplane we fly with the latest in active collision-avoidance equipment- very similar to the equipment required on every airliner in the United States.

The Best Aviation Program in the World

As a parent, I am always concerned about value for the parents and students in our flight program. We offer a two-track flight training program which allows students to rapidly progress to instructor pilot and build the multiengine hours they require to move on to the regional and major airlines, as well as corporate and military flight positions. Recognizing the advancements in technology and the increasing role they will play in aviation training, Embry-Riddle has invested millions of dollars in our state-of-the-art Flight Training Devices that are housed in our Advanced Flight Simulation Building. These sophisticated “Level Six Plus” flight training devices allow our students to learn valuable skills at half of the cost of the actual aircraft.

Additionally, many of our students become flight instructors during their junior and senior years and build experience while earning money at the same time. Those who elect to remain with the department for a while as flight instructors after graduation do so while earning full medical and dental benefits, free master's degree tuition and flying in the safest operation we can provide.
