New Flight Team Members

Daytona Beach, FL., October 13, 2011

Greetings from the flight team,

We’ve looked high and low this year to find the most capable students to join our flight team. These new students will join us as we compete with 74 other aviation schools around the country in the National Intercollegiate Flying Association’s SAFECON. This year our search has added 10 new students to our roster. They are:

Ben Eve
Ryan Leeward
Nicole Leong
Paul Kim
Vivek Jadev
Kate Zhu

These 10 were chosen out of almost 200 who showed up at our initial open recruitment briefing. The selection process is a month long with the students participating in the day-to-day practices of the flight team. They are evaluated on their academic performance in the “Big Three” ground events along with, their commitment to practice, academic performance in their classes, cohesiveness with the current team, and their performance during a formal interview with the team. The process is quite grueling with only 31 students sticking it out to participate in the final, formal interview. Many students have told us over the years that their initial job interview was a breeze compared to their flight team interview.

With the addition of these 10 new members, the flight team now has 35 members with representation from 14 different countries. The diverse population of the team validates Embry-Riddle’s claim of being the world’s leading aerospace education institution. Please join me in welcoming the new members of the Eagles Flight team.
