Daytona Beach Campus

Counseling Services

Counseling services are available to all Embry-Riddle students enrolled in the current semester. We offer a variety of services to assist you in managing your personal challenges and the demands of college life.

Individual Services

Professional counselors provide a safe, confidential place to discuss concerns or problems interfering with your personal growth and academic achievement. Counselors provide brief counseling and psychotherapy to clarify your concerns, work toward the resolution of difficulties and facilitate improved functioning within the areas of targeted concern. Individual counseling sessions are scheduled on the hour with a specific staff counselor. Counseling services are voluntary, confidential and free of charge.

If an individual counselor determines medication may be helpful in addition to counseling and psychotherapy, the student can be referred to a community psychiatrist for a consultation regarding potentially useful medications and appropriate follow-up treatment.

If an individual counselor determines more intensive or extensive treatment is required, a referral for additional services outside of the Counseling Center is provided.

Students covered by the Student Health Insurance Plan (SHR) or students with private insurance will be referred to appropriate resources.

Couples Counseling

Relationship difficulties can be a major source of stress and academic disruption for students. The Counseling Center provides brief couples counseling for any enrolled student and their partner or spouse. Both members of the couple must be enrolled students to be eligible for this service.

Urgent Counseling Services

Although the Counseling Center operates on an appointment basis, a student may face an urgent concern or crisis which feels too overwhelming to wait for a scheduled appointment. Every effort will be made to respond for immediate in-person assessment and intervention during normal business hours. If it is after-hours, crisis counselors are available for phone consultation 24 hours a day, seven days a week by calling Lifeline at 800-273-TALK (273-8255).

Consultation Services

Counseling Center staff offer consultation assistance to concerned parents, faculty, staff and students who have concerns about an ERAU student. By speaking with a counselor, you can receive information about how to talk with a student experiencing difficulties and how to access various resources, both on and off campus.

Confidentiality

Counseling at the ERAU Counseling Center is confidential, and is most effective when a student can be direct and honest with a counselor, without fear that personal information will be shared.

Counselors do not release information about a student without that student’s written permission, except as directed by Florida law (cases of imminent danger to self or others, child/elder abuse or by court order). Notations of counseling are not part of a student’s university records.
