Immediate Help
Students who are suffering from a psychological or emotional crisis often require immediate help or same day intervention. An emergency might involve:
- Thoughts and plans to hurt yourself or someone else
- Engaging in a behavior which is life threatening
- If you have been assaulted — physically or sexually
To be seen for an emergency appointment during business hours (Fall & Spring 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m., Monday – Friday & Summer: 7:30 a.m. – 5:30 p.m., Monday-Thursday):
- Call our office at 386-226-6035 and be sure to inform the receptionist that you are experiencing a crisis.
- Walk into the Center and be sure to inform the front desk staff that you are experiencing a crisis.
- Call Campus Safety at 386-226-6480 to bring you to the Counseling Center, if necessary.
For emergency assistance after hours (depending upon the nature, location and timing of an emergency, your options are):

- Dial extension 6-SAFE (7233) from any campus phone or call 386-226-7233
- Dial 911 – Off Campus
- Contact Lifeline – 24 Hour Crisis Hotline at 800-273-TALK (8255)
- Contact the 24 Hour Sexual Assault Response Team at 386-258-RAPE (7273) or 800-940-7273
