Graduation applications may be submitted the semester prior to degree completion, and instructions are available through ERNIE and the Information for Students section of the graduation site. Stay in touch with Office of the Registrar to verify all paperwork is completed and you are eligible to graduate.
Embry-Riddle does not host a Summer Commencement Ceremony. Summer graduates are invited to attend the Fall Commencement Ceremony and may indicate their interest on the graduation application. Summer graduates wishing to participate in the Fall Commencement Ceremony, may petition their college dean for a ceremony waiver if they are within 6 credit hours of degree completion. Summer degrees are conferred following the Summer B session. Please refer to the Important Dates for application deadlines and conferral dates.
Cap & Gown orders can be placed at the Grad Fair on February 26th & 27th in the Mori Hosseini Student Union. A Herff Jones representative will be on campus from 11 a.m. - 3 p.m. All orders placed after March 15th will be charged a $10 late fee. Payments are due upon ordering. Caps & gowns will be distributed at The Lift Off and in the University Bookstore closer to graduation. For more information, please visit:

Graduation Announcements, Class Rings, & Diploma Frames – Customized announcements can be ordered that contain the ERAU crest, your name, degree and major.  All orders will be sent to your home address in approximately three weeks. See the Herff Jones Representative to view samples of the class rings and graduation announcements. You can place your order at Grad Fair. Diploma Frames are in stock and available for purchase in the University Bookstore at this time.

Graduation CGPA is based on all Embry-Riddle courses. If you have questions, please visit Office of the Registrar, located in the Student Center Annex.

Your diploma will be mailed, and you will receive it approximately four to six weeks after graduation. Please ensure that Office of the Registrar has your valid diploma mailing address.

The measurement for the graduate and undergraduate diploma is 8.5" x 11".

The Loan Exit Counseling session, with Financial Aid, must be completed prior to the last day of exams.This learning opportunity provides information about your rights and responsibilities as a borrower, including information about various repayment plans and deferment or forbearance options that may be available to you if you are unable to make a payment. Completing a Financial Aid Exit Interview does not satisfy the requirements for your Perkins or Institutional Loan Exit interview.

  • Loan Exit Counseling Sessions will be made available from 5 to 6 p.m. in Room 104 (Capt. Willie Miller Instructional Center) on the following dates: April 9th, 10th, 16th, and 17th. The Loan Exit Counseling session, which is mandatory for all federal loan borrowers, must be completed prior to the last day of classes.
  • Your Perkins Exit Interview must be completed by the last day of classes.
  • The Exit Interview will be completed online.
  • Exit Interview instructions for the Federal Perkins Loan will be sent to your ERAU email address on March 29th.
  • Failure to complete your Exit Interview will result in holds being placed on your account and your diploma will be withheld.

The GPA minimum requirements are listed below by degree:

  • Graduate degrees: 3.0 GPA 
  • Undergraduate degrees: 2.0 GPA 
  • Engineering Core GPA: 2.0 
  • Minor(s): 2.0 GPA for each minor
What GPA do I need to graduate with honors?

Honors GPA - NO rounding (based on Embry-Riddle credit only)

  • Bachelor

    • Summa Cum Laude: 3.900 GPA and above (Gold Honors Cord)
    • Magna Cum Laude: 3.700 to 3.899 GPA (Red Honors Cord)
    • Cum Laude: 3.500 to 3.699 GPA (White Honors Cord)
  • Master
  • With Distinction: 4.000 GPA (Medal of Distinction)

No tickets are needed. All family and friends will be accommodated. However, please know that seating in the Ocean Center is on a first come basis. Guests are not permitted to save rows of seats prior to the ceremony. Thank you for your cooperation!

There are a limited number of reserved seats available. This seating will be located in Sections 103 (also includes 102) and 120 (also includes 121), directly to the left and right of the stage. A map has been included below for reference.

Guests must be able to navigate stairs in order to get to these seats. Therefore, anyone in need of accessible seating may have difficulty accessing them. Those in need of accessible seating should check in with an Ocean Center usher at the entrance to the arena floor on the morning of the ceremony. Up to four guests may accompany those in need of accessible seating to the limited floor seating section. NOTE: The reserved seating is not floor seating. The seats are located in risers. Upon arrival to your section, kindly provide your ticket(s) to the Embry-Riddle staff member on duty.

Tickets for the Spring 2019 Commencement ceremony are available for purchase HERENOTE: Purchases must be made by noon on Friday, May 3rd.

Graduates, family, and friends are encouraged to park in the Ocean Center parking garage, just north of the Ocean Center. Parking passes will be on sale at ERNIE Central (located in the Mori Hosseini Student Union) starting April 1st for $3 per vehicle. Purchases must be made with a credit card at ERNIE Central. NOTE: There are a limited number of discounted parking passes available. Guests can pay for parking on the day of the ceremony (CASH ONLY). Parking costs between $5 to $10 per vehicle the day of graduation (CASH ONLY). Parking is limited and has run out in the past. It is first come, first served; therefore, it is a great idea to carpool. Disability accommodations are available.

The length of the ceremony is ultimately dependent upon the number of graduates who participate. However, it should conclude by 1:30 p.m. at the latest.

Grad Images will be taking pictures during the ceremony. They take pictures of the graduates as they cross the stage and receive their diplomas. After the ceremony, Grad Images will e-mail the student a proof for you to decide if you would like to order a professional copy. If you do not receive a proof of your graduate's picture, you may contact Grad Images directly.

If you are planning to walk in the Spring 2019 Commencement Ceremony or run for Senior Class Council, you should attend one of the two graduation meetings. These meetings will be held in the Center for Faith and Spirituality at 6:00 p.m. on January 22nd or January 23rd .
