Embry-Riddle Daytona Beach Weather Center

The Weather Center, in the College of Aviation Building on the Daytona Beach Campus, is primarily used as a location where students can access weather data and analysis applications for lab assignments and student research products. Data received has been used for multiple smaller research products, both funded and unfunded.

The Weather Center features state-of-the-art technology, including:

  • Approximately 20 dual boot (Linux and Windows) computers loaded with the same weather analysis software as used by the National Weather Service forecast centers
  • A 3-D projector for displaying weather and other phenomena in 3D
  • A weather server cluster and satellite feed that receives over 100GB of worldwide weather data daily (slightly more than a local NWS forecast office receives)
  • A dual projection system for group discussions and briefings
