The Technically Advanced Aircraft Performance Lab (TAAP) — directed by Dr. Jon French — mainly focuses on evaluating new equipment, such as the Automatic Dependent Surveillance-Broadcast (ADS-B) navigation and other computer/satellite-based displays that relieve much of the general aviation cognitive workload.

Recent sponsored projects have compared eye tracking (point of regard) in experienced and novice pilots with regard to new training methods, Scenario Based Learning, of TAA instrumentation.
