Laser Darkroom

The Laser Darkroom is a space for teaching advanced physics experiments, projects in optics and high-powered laser use, and other experiments requiring darkness or special lighting conditions.

Typically used to support coursework or for independent student projects, this lab features advanced optical and laser equipment, computer applications specific to laser use, and spectrometers. This unique space allows for the safe operation of research-grade lasers and is outfitted with white, red, and green lighting so experiments sensitive to certain colors of light can still be operated in visible conditions.

Special projects conducted in this lab include holography, fiber optics, optical spectroscopy, and laser spectroscopy.
