This state-of-the-art training facility is 48,000 square feet and consists of laboratories on the first two floors and classrooms on the third floor. The building also has two outdoor observation decks that offer a panoramic view of both Embry-Riddle’s flight line and Daytona Beach International Airport.

The Aviation Maintenance Science building is home to eight laboratories. Each is designed to enhance the training that students receive in the Airframe and Powerplant technician program.

Laboratories in the Building

The building opened in September 2011 and was made possible in part through the generosity of the Emil Buehler Perpetual Trust. Mr. Buehler had spent most of his career as a renowned architect and engineer who was dedicated to making aircraft travel further and faster.

His accomplishments include reconfiguring a twin-engine Piper aircraft to allow higher speed, operating a school of aeronautics at New Jersey’s Teterboro Airport, supervising the construction of the Fort Lauderdale Executive Airport, and funding the construction of a wind tunnel capable of Mach 9 air speeds.
