Highlights from Past Events
- Co-sponsored by the Fred Elston Fund, the 11th Annual Elston Gravitation Lecture featured Dr. Alex Filippenko, an award-winning astronomy professor at the University of California, Berkeley. Filippenko spoke on exploding stars, black holes, galaxies and cosmology. He can be seen on the History Channel series, The Universe.
- The touring company of the American Shakespeare Center performed A Midsummer Night's Dream — the Bard's mischievous comedy of lovers, heroes and fairies.
- For the third year, Riddle's Got Talent! — Embry-Riddle's talent show — wowed the crowd. The event showcased skills ranging from jazz music to break dancing.
- Juilliard-trained pianist Koji Attwood regaled the audience with his award-winning music. Attwood has played to acclaim around the world, and is a frequent collaborator with ballet and choreography legend Mikhail Baryshnikov.
- The Chris Hiatt Experience returned to the University to present a vibrant history of rock ‘n’ roll (from rockabilly to alternative rock) through a lecture, slideshow and concert.
- University of Calgary archaeology professor Dr. Armando Anaya explained some of the mysteries of the fascinating and misunderstood Mayan culture. Anaya and Embry-Riddle humanities professor Steve Glassman are the authors of Cities of the Maya in Seven Epochs: 1250 B.C. to A.D. 1903.
